Kōnin is a passion project created by myself, Jared Fowler, and my good friend, Garth Thomson. The idea came to fruition during a stag do in Lille, circa 2023. 

We combine our professional expertise in design, technology, and construction with a shared passion for collecting and wearing hats almost daily, to develop headwear for ourselves and others to enjoy out there in the wild.

Our goal is not to start a brand or build a business. It is simply a project where we can work with local suppliers and manufactuers in New Zealand to make great hats, and if possible, sell them to fund the development of the next style.

With that said, on koninproject.com we will be selling the hats using a pre-order model. Once we hit the local workshop's minimum order quantity, we will get the hats made and shipped out to you.

This can take a bit of time, but we hope you can understand the nature of this project and come along for the ride with us. You will be updated about progress on a regular basis. Refunds can also be issued at any time during the pre-production phase.

The hats are timeless pieces, using classic silhouettes and premium materials, so once you get your hands on one, you'll be able to wear it all year round, for a long time. The first hat took 9 months of development and half a dozen iterations... so we hope it's obvious that there is no rushing around here. Let's keep this pace together. Let's make great hats together.
